Providing quality care at home is the first step for optimal, healthy child development
Families are their children’s first teacher. Understanding children’s developmental milestones from birth to age five helps families know and love their children.
Developmental milestones are behaviors or skills during a certain period of a child’s life, and shows if he or she is developing at the pace that is typical. Understanding the milestones is helpful for parents and caregivers so that they can have an idea of what typical development looks like for each given stage. This can remove doubt and fear about how a child is developing. No two children will have the same gifts or develop at the same pace. As concerns come up, checking the milestones gives a deeper understanding for parents about their children, and help know when help might be needed. When families learn more about their children, they become more equipped to love them because they know them better.
